CLEVELAND --  The trial for the 16 Amish men and women accused of participating in the beard cutting of fellow Amish could go down in Ohio history. 

The jury deliberated anywhere from 32 to 34 hours before reaching its verdict.  They found all of the defendants guilty of conspiracy and hate crimes surrounding the attacks. 

For juror Stu Smith, it was not an easy decision to make.  "I live near Amish, I don't know any personally but I respect them highly," said Smith. 

He couldn't help but wonder how the verdict would impact the tight knit Amish community.  "It's been difficult," said Smith but his decision he said was based upon the facts. 

Juror Sandy McPeak called the verdict the "hardest decision she's ever had to make." 

McPeak said in order to cover all the facts they [the jurors] "took each person separately... to get thru it." 

While the jurors believed they came to the right decision, defense attorneys representing different clients are already talking appeals. 

McPeak believes their verdict will hold up to that appeal process.  "I say good luck.  If that's what they have to do they have to do it.  We just made the best decision that we could," said McPeak.
