LORAIN -- A Lorain man, 42, was charged with resisting arrest, assault on a police K-9 and possession of counterfeit evidence following an incident early Sunday morning.
Police charged Willie Ramos Jr., 42.
Police responded to a call of a fight outside an apartment complex. Ramos ran off when police arrived. After a yelled warning, police sent K-9 Kriss after Ramos.
Kriss corneered Ramos in the front yard of Sacred Heart Church. When the K-9's partner arrived at the church, he found Ramos punching Kriss's head and body. The officer ordered Ramos to stop hitting his K-9 Kriss, but Ramos continued.
To avoid K-9 Kriss from being seriously injured, the officer punched Ramos in the face. Ramos then stopped striking Kriss.
Ramos was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries before being charged. Kriss was not badily injured and continued with his shift.
