AKRON -- Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Mary Margaret Rowlands sentenced Jason Mazan, 28, of Canton, to 18 months in prison.

Judge Rowlands also deemed Mazan a Tier III sex offender, which means he must register his address with the Sheriff's Office for the rest of his life.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office said that, about 1:30 a.m. April 7, a deputy found Mazan parked in his car with a partially-clothed 14-year-old girl behind a dance studio on Massillon Road.

The student involved in the incident attended Green Schools.

Mazan is a 2003 Green High School graduate. He's also working on his master's degree in theater education and had been a substitute teacher in the theater program at Green High School.

Mazan was hired on a supplemental contract with Green Local Schools. According to the district, his contract expired at the end of March.

On Aug. 15, Mazan pleaded guilty to attempted sexual battery, a felony; attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony; and falsification, a misdemeanor.
