WOOSTER -- A bomb threat against the City of Wooster Municipal Building was called in at 2:09 p.m. Tuesday to the Wayne County Justice Center dispatch.
The City of Wooster Municipal Building at 538 N. Market Street was immediately evacuated and North Market Street shut down.
Adjacent homes and buildings were also evacuated as a precaution and Wooster City Schools were notified so that nearby Cornerstone Elementary could take appropriate action for dismissal.
Explosive sniffing K-9s from the University of Akron and the Summit County Sheriff's Department arrived at the Wooster Municipal Building at approximately 3:45 p..m. and began to search the building.
After an extensive and thorough search of the building, the K-9 handlers advised that they had not received any indications of explosives or explosive residue in the building.
City employees who work in the municipal building had already been released for the day and the building was subsequently secured for the night.
The Wooster Police Dept said they take these types of threats very seriously and are currently investigating this incident.
