AKRON -- A teenager has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in a plot to lure men using phony Craigslist job offers.
Brogan Rafferty, 17, from Stow near Akron, was convicted Oct. 30 on aggravated murder and attempted murder charges in the killing of three men and wounding of a fourth.
During the sentencing, the teen apologized in court, saying, "There's nothing I can do to make anything better."
The apology did little to move Judge Lynne Callahan, who described the crimes as "cold, calculated, methodical."
Prosecutors had asked for individual sentences for each of the victims and that the prison time be served consecutively. The defense had asked for less time, with a chance at parole for the teen.
Co-defendant Richard Beasley, 53, has pleaded not guilty and will be tried in January. A judge set the trial date to begin on January 7 during a separate hearing on Friday.
