Divorce for transgender man denied
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A judge in central Ohio has refused to block the opening of a 190-bed homeless shelter being opposed by a neighboring day care center.
Creative Child Care Inc. filed a lawsuit and sought a restraining order in court in Columbus to stop the shelter from opening.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Franklin County Common Pleas Judge John Bessey on Monday declined to issue a preliminary injunction. That would have prevented the county shelter board from moving forward with plans for a winter shelter while a lawsuit plays out.
The child care center had argued that the county violated laws or procedures by allowing the shelter board to take over the rezoned property.
Day-care officials say they are sympathetic, but think the shelter would endanger children and hurt their business.
