At least 5,400 customers in Cuyahoga County were without electrical power this New Year's Day. The outage began at 10 a.m.
The cause was a subtransmission line which was not working, a line that feeds power to the area.
Crews restored power to all but 48 customers by 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.
As of 2 p.m., 5,470 customers in Cuyahoga County were without power in these 31 degree temperatures.
Surrounding counties of Lake, Geauga, Lorain and Summit each had less than 5 customers without power so it is not a widespread outage.
