AKRON -- A judge has set bond at half a million dollars for an Akron father in connection with the shooting death of his 4-year-old son.
Allen would have to post 10 percent of the amount to get out of jail.
A judge entered a technical not guilty plea for Terrance Allen, 48, in court to charges including involuntary manslaughter and child endangering in the death of Jamarcus Allen.
According to police, Allen flagged down a Summit County deputy on Wednesday morning and the deputy found the child in the car with a gunshot wound to the head. Jamarcus died at the hospital.
Police say they recovered a handgun from the car.
Allen is scheduled for his next court appearance on Feb. 8.
The family of Jamarcus Allen has set up a fund in his name at First Merit Bank. Donations can be made at any location.
