GENEVA, Ohio --  The SPIRE Institute in Geneva has been designated a U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Site.  It's one of only a handful of facilities nationwide to have this distinction.

The U.S. Olympic Committee made the announcement at a news conference at the institute with included 1996 gold medal winner Michael Johnson.

SPIRE will offer resources and facilities to train the U.S. track and field and wheelchair basketball athletes.

The institute encompasses 750,000 square feet of Olympic-caliber indoor training facilities on more than 175 acres in Geneva.
