PARMA -- A Cleveland man faces charges after fleeing police and hitting a police dog.
Police say the23-year-old man drove past an officer going 68 m.p.h. on Broadview just before midnight. The man fled from police and the pursuit went into Cleveland.
At Broadview and Spring the driver lost control on a curve and the car rammed into a building. The driver then jumped from the car and ran eventually hiding under a parked car.
Parma used a K-9 officer to get the man out from under the car. Police say the man punched the dog repeatedly in the chest while trying to avoid apprehension.
Police are trying to determine where a bag of rings, necklaces and other jewelry came from that was found when the man was apprehended. He faces charged of felony fleeing and assaulting a police K-9.
