Twinsburg High School's girls basketball team capped the 2011-12 season by defeating Kettering Fairmont 57-51 in the Division I state championship game to capture the program's second state title in as many years.
Now, the Lady Tigers need the help of all Northeast Ohio high school sports fans to add another item to their already impressive resume.
By virtue of its state title win, Twinsburg is in the running to become this year's girls basketball "Super 25 People's Champion." The contest consists of state championship teams from each of the 50 states and 13 at-large teams chosen by USA Today sports writer Jim Halley.
Fans of each school are being asked to show their school pride and vote for their respective team in the online contest.
Voting is already underway and will continue through the end of the month. Fans can vote as many times and as often as they'd like.
The team with the most votes at the end of the contest will be proclaimed the girls basketball "Super 25 People's Champion." The title comes with the "Super 25 People's Champion" trophy presented by HighSchoolSports.net and a $1,000 donation awarded to the winning school's athletic department.
HighSchoolSports.net is the exclusive distributor of "Super 25 Computer Rankings," which rank varsity football, girls and boys basketball, baseball and boys and girls lacrosse teams within their league, state and the U.S.
