Darlington, SC (Sports Network) - Jimmie Johnson gave team owner Rick Hendrick
his long-awaited 200th win in NASCAR's premier series by taking Saturday
night's Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
Johnson, the five-time Sprint Cup Series champion, led the most laps with 133
but had to gamble on fuel in the late-stages and then held off Denny Hamlin
and Tony Stewart in a green-white-checkered finish for the win.
Johnson and Hendrick Motorsports also ended a 16-race winless streak. Johnson
gave the racing organization its 199th win in Cup last October at Kansas
Speedway.
Hamlin finished 0.8 seconds behind Johnson in the runner-up spot, while
Stewart took the third position. Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out
the top-five.
Danica Patrick, making just her second Sprint Cup start, finished six laps
behind in 31st. She started 38th.
Despite finishing 12th, Greg Biffle remained atop the point standings. Matt
Kenseth placed sixth and trimmed his Roush Fenway Racing teammate's lead to
just two points.
