MANTUA -- Possible "panther" sightings in Mantua  have some residents on edge.

A picture, thought to be of the animal is making the rounds on Facebook.  It's hard to tell from the snapshot what it is.

Last week Emili Matthews claims she saw the animal.

It was 1 a.m. and Matthews was on her way to pick up her boyfriend. She stepped outside the door and says what she calls a panther was sitting in the driveway.

The security system triggered by a motion detector scared the animal away.

"I'm not used to this kind of thing. I'm from Virginia. It's scary and surprising. I'm thankful I survived and wasn't attacked," Matthews said.

Matthews claims the panther has been seen at two other locations nearby.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says it is looking into the complaint but so far has not been able to verify what, if anything, might be roaming the Mantua neighborhood.
