Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled pitcher
Bryan Morris from Triple-A Indianapolis and claimed infielder Drew Sutton off
waivers from Tampa Bay on Sunday.
The Pirates acquired Sutton on May 20 but they traded him the next day to the
Rays. He hit .271 with four doubles and six RBI in 18 games before he was
designated for assignment on June 22.
Morris went 1-2 with five saves and a 2.28 earned run average in 23 relief
appearances for Indianapolis this season.
Pittsburgh also optioned shortstop Jordy Mercer to Indianapolis and
transferred pitcher Charlie Morton from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day
DL.
Mercer appeared in five games this season and had one hit in nine at-bats.
