Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Pinch-hitter Joe Kelly's run-scoring single in
the top of the 10th inning proved to be the difference, as the St. Louis
Cardinals rallied past the Miami Marlins, 8-7, in a wild game on Monday.
Rafael Furcal had an RBI double in the 10th for the Cardinals, who were coming
off a three-game sweep of the Royals. Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer in the
ninth to tie the game. Allen Craig and Carlos Beltran had an RBI apiece.
St. Louis starter Jake Westbrook allowed two runs on six hits over six
innings. Victor Marte (2-1) recorded the final two outs in the ninth to pick
up the win.
Jose Reyes went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored for the Marlins, who
failed to build off a 9-0 win over the Blue Jays on Sunday. John Buck, Hanley
Ramirez, Giancarlo Stanton, Logan Morrison and Greg Dobbs each drove in a run.
Ricky Nolasco gave up one unearned run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings. Chad
Gaudin (1-1) allowed two runs on three hits in the 10th to take the loss.
