CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians acquired utilityman Brent Lillibridge from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for pitcher Jose De La Torre Tuesday.

Lillibridge, who Boston designated for assignment on July 16, went 2-for-16 with five strikeouts in 10 games for the Red Sox this season.

Over 295 career games with the Braves, White Sox and Red Sox, Lillibridge is a .212 hitter with 19 doubles, 16 home runs and 58 RBI.

De La Torre has an 8-1 record with a 2.91 ERA and two saves through 34 appearances -- one start -- for Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus this year.

He has yet to appear in the majors.
