DELLROY -- Birding fans are getting quite a rare sight at Atwood Lake.

A brown pelican has been spotted multiple times since last Friday around the lake. Wildlife experts suspect the bird may have been knocked off course or taken out of its usual habitat by Hurricane Isaac.

It's only the sixth time such a bird has been spotted in Ohio. The last pelican that showed up in Ohio was in 2008.

Birders and the merely curious are flocking to Atwood Lake to try to catch a glimpse or photo of the pelican.

The lake spans portions of Tuscarawas and Carroll counties about 30 minutes from the Bolivar exit off I-77.

You can visit the park's web site for more a detailed map.
