CLEVELAND -- Browns fans went to bed knowing their former team owner was gravely ill.
They woke up to the news Art Modell passed away. The 87-year-old died with his family by his side.
The members of his once extended family, those Cleveland fans, went to work today talking about the man who did so much for Cleveland football, and then in one moment in 1995 t took it all away. At Danny's Deli on St. Clair and East 18th Street the coffee was hot, but tempers had cooled about Modell.

One customer said, "They can't get over that night, and they can't get over LeBron James either, so, I mean, I hope that his legacy will be remembered in a good way."
Another believes his work will be remembered in a good way, but still doesn't think fans will ever get over the move to Baltimore. "He did a lot of good things for Cleveland, for the Browns, and I am not holding that one situation over him."
Out working on Lakeside Avenue a former season ticket holder said that Modell's legacy was washed away when he took the team. "When he pulled out, it sort of messed up a way of life in Cleveland."
