CLEVELAND -- On Thursday's sun-soaked afternoon, a local fisherman was surprised to find more than fish swimming around Lake Erie.
When Ralph Stock says he was about 1,000 yards offshore a deer was swimming straight toward them.
"We were in disbelief for a moment, then we tried to position ourselves to get the deer to swim back to shore rather than continue swimming out in to the lake," Stock said in an e-mail.
Stock says the Coast Guard was called and a boat came out to help the deer.
According to Stock, the deer made it safely back to shore.
