Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Fuquan Edwin went 10-of-14 from the field to
score a game-high 25 points as the Seton Hall Pirates took down the Saint
Peter's Peacocks, 76-61, in a non-conference matchup at the Prudential Center.
Eugene Teague contributed a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards for
Seton Hall (5-1), which picked up its third win in a row. Aaron Cosby also got
into the mix with 13 points.
Darius Conley and Blaise Ffrench scored 14 points each for the Peacocks (3-2).
French also led the team with nine assists and seven rebounds.
The Pirates had trouble in the early stages of the contest and managed to
convert only 35.7 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half. SPC
shot 45.8 percent from the floor before the break to take a narrow 30-29 lead
into the intermission.
Seton Hall came out of intermission determined and Cosby gave it a 56-45 lead
when he made a jumper at the 11:21 mark of the second half. The Pirates shot
68 percent from the field including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc to take
control over the final 20 minutes. The Peacocks were unable to keep up despite
knocking down 5-of-11 from three-point range.
The Pirates enjoyed a 34-24 edge in the rebounding battle as they defeated SPC
for the 17th consecutive time.
