Austin, TX (Sports Network) - Julien Lewis knocked down 6-of-10 3-pointers en
route to a game-high 18 points, as the Texas Longhorns notched a 70-54 win
over the Texas-Arlington Mavericks in non-conference play at the Erwin Center.
Ioannis Papapetrou added 17 points off the bench and Sheldon McClellan scored
14 for the Longhorns (5-2), winners of three straight.
Jordan Reves posted 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Mavericks (3-2), who
lost on the road for the first time in four tries this season. Jamel Outler
scored 12 off the bench in a losing effort.
The Longhorns buried eight of their season-high 13 3-pointers in the first
half, as they took a commanding 38-18 halftime lead into the locker room.
UT led by as many as 28 with 12 minutes to play and the Mavericks never
threatened the rest of the way.
The Longhorns held UTA to 29.5-percent shooting for the game and a season-low
in points, improving to 8-0 in the intrastate series with their satellite
campus. Prior to today, the Mavericks had not given up more than 63 points to
an opponent this season, as they entered the weekend as the nation's top
field-goal percentage defense.
