Norfolk, VA (Sports Network) - Cedrick Lindsay scored 19 points to lead the
Richmond Spiders to a win over the in-state rival Old Dominion Monarchs,
80-53, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
Lindsay shot 8-of-11 from the floor and dished out seven assists for the
Spiders (7-2). Greg Robbins and Darien Brothers each added 14 points.
Nick Wright led the way for the Monarchs (1-7) with 16 points. DeShawn Painter
added eight points and 10 rebounds.
Richmond took control early on, jumping out to an 11-point lead midway through
the first half. The Spiders led 38-19 at the break in large part because ODU
shot just 18.8 percent from the field. Richmond also dominated the Monarchs in
the paint, outscoring ODU 18-8 from inside.
ODU started making shots in the second half and shot 46.6 percent but
turnovers and an inability to stop Richmond did the Monarchs in. The Spiders
scored 15 points off of turnovers in the second half compared to two for Old
Dominion.
Despite the loss, ODU still leads the all-time series, 29-24.
