Evanston, IL (Sports Network) - Josh Huestis recorded a double-double of 18
points and 12 rebounds as the Stanford Cardinal slipped by the Northwestern
Wildcats, 70-68, in a non-conference matchup at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Robbie Lemons added 12 points while John Gage also added 12 points, off the
bench, for the Cardinal (8-4)
For the Wildcats (8-4), Reggie Hearn and Alex Olah scored 18 and 16 points,
respectively. Tre Demps and Alex Marcotullio added 12 and 10 points off the
bench in the setback.
The first half ended with Stanford on top, 35-31. Northwestern made 42.3
percent of its shots from the floor while Stanford made good on 7-of-15 from
beyond the arc.
Stanford shot 54.5 percent from the floor in the second and pulled ahead for
good with a 3-pointer for Aaron Bright with 1:30 remaining to break a 67-67
tie. Northwestern missed four shots in the final minute to surrender the
decision.
Stanford controlled the boards by a 37-29 margin and made 11-of-24 shots
from beyond the arc.
