Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Isaiah Austin recorded a double-double as the
Baylor Bears defeated the BYU Cougars, 79-64, at the Ferrell Center.
Austin scored 14 points, pulled down 10 boards and recorded five blocks in
the Baylor (8-3) victory. Cory Jefferson also recorded a double-double,
scoring 13 points to go with 16 rebounds. Pierre Jackson was one assist shy
of a double-double with 16 points. Brady Heslip added 11 points and A.J.
Walton chipped in 10 points
For the Cougars (8-4), Brandon Davies recorded a double-double with a game-
high 26 points and 17 rebounds. Tyler Haws contributed 13 points in the
setback.
Despite BYU opening up on a 9-2 run, Baylor would make 5-of-10 of its
3-pointer attempts en route to a 40-31 lead at the break.
Baylor continued it's solid 50.0 percent (4-of-8) shooting from behind the
arc in the second half, while also holding BYU to a mere 1-of-9 from
3-point range.
The Bears hit on 45.0 percent of its shots overall in the game while
limiting the Cougars to 38.7 percent shooting.
