Murfreesboro, TN (Sports Network) - Marcos Knight scored 12 points and grabbed
seven rebounds for Middle Tennessee as the Blue Raiders captured a 75-57 win
over the North Texas Mean Green in Sun Belt Conference play at the Murphy
Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Blue Raiders (11-3, 3-0 SBC), winners
of four straight and six of the last seven, was Raymond Cintron with 11 points
thanks to 3-of-6 shooting behind the 3-point line off the bench.
North Texas (5-9, 0-3), one of only two teams in the SBC yet to win a league
bout, was led by Tony Mitchell who recorded a double-double with 13 points and
a game-high 11 rebounds as they lost their third straight outing. Jordan
Williams led all scorers with 15 points, despite shooting just 1-of-7 beyond
the arc, followed by Roger Franklin with 11 points.
Middle Tennessee scored the first points of the night and never looked back,
taking a 37-24 lead at the break thanks mostly to a defense that held the
visitors to just 5-of-27 (.185) shooting from the floor through the first 20
minutes of action.
The Blue Raiders went from shooting 51.9 percent from the field in the first
half to 50 percent after the intermission, en route to the 18-point home win.
UNT finished the contest shooting a mere 4-of-17 beyond the arc and 33.9
percent from the field overall.
