Columbia, SC (Sports Network) - South Carolina junior quarterback Connor Shaw
underwent successful surgery on his left foot on Friday, according to the
Gamecocks' team physician.
Shaw, who originally hurt his foot on Oct. 27 against Tennessee, aggravated
the injury prior to the Gamecocks' game-winning drive over Michigan at the
Outback Bowl on Jan. 1.
The injury hampered Shaw most of the season, but he still threw 17 touchdowns
against seven interceptions while passing for 1,956 yards. He also was the
team's second-leading rusher with 435 yards and three touchdowns on 131
carries.
Redshirt freshman linebacker Cedrick Cooper also had surgery on Friday after
injuring his left knee during bowl mini-camp.
Both players are expected to make a full recovery. However, neither is
expected to be ready for the team's 2013 spring drills.
