Peoria, IL (Sports Network) - Cleanthony Early poured in 24 points to lift the
Wichita State Shockers to a 69-63 decision over the Bradley Braves in a
Missouri Valley Conference bout at Carver Arena.
Demetric Williams added 10 points for the Shockers (14-1, 3-0 MVC) while
Ehimen Orukpe grabbed nine rebounds.
Dyricus Simms-Edwards and Walt Lemon Jr. scored 15 points apiece for Bradley
(10-5, 2-1). Jake Eastman netted 11 points, Tyshon Pickett had 10 points, and
Lemon Jr. also contributed eight boards and five assists in the loss that
snapped the Braves' brief two-game winning streak.
Both teams were red-hot from the field in the first half, with Bradley
shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and Wichita State making good on 51.9
percent of its attempts. The Shockers held a 4-1 advantage at the foul line in
the half and took a slim 35-34 lead into intermission.
The back-and-forth play continued throughout the second half. With the
Shockers down by two with under four minutes to play, Early drained a 3-
pointer to give them a 62-61 lead, and they never surrendered that advantage
from there.
The contest consisted of 10 ties and 12 lead changes.
