Dayton, OH -- Jerran Young poured in 23 points off the bench to push the Wright State Raiders to a 69-53 victory over the Cleveland State Vikings in a Horizon League tilt at the Ervin J. Nutter Center.
Kendall Griffin added 12 points for the Raiders (12-4, 3-0 Horizon) as they picked up their fourth win in a row. Cole Darling pulled down seven rebounds while Matt Vest got into the mix with eight points, six assists, and five boards.
Bryn Forbes tallied 15 points and five rebounds for Cleveland State (9-8, 1-2), which has now lost three of its last four games.
Wright State opened up the contest on an 8-0 run and never looked back. The Vikings did not score until the 14:38 mark of the opening period as they missed their first six field goals and committed two turnovers in the four minutes following the tip-off. Cleveland State went into the intermission trailing 35-17 after it went just 6-of-23 from the field while allowing the Raiders to sink 7-of-13 from beyond the arc.
The Vikings tried to rally back after the break and Luda Ndaye drained a jumper to make it a nine-point game at 37-28, but the hosts scored seven unanswered to end the threat. Cleveland State won the second half by two points thanks to its 5-of-8 performance from beyond the arc, but the Raiders make 12-of-15 at the charity stripe to keep a healthy advantage.
Wright State forced 16 turnovers which it converted into 24 points to overcome the Vikings' 33-29 edge in the rebounding battle and remain unbeaten in conference play.
