The 2012 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards honored the  Best Moment in Cleveland Sports on Thursday night and that award went to the Division I, Region 1 Ohio Athletic Association state tournament game between Mentor and St. Ignatius.

St Ignatius head coach Chuck Kyle and Mentor head coach Steve Trivisonno were on hand to accept the award.

Coach Trivisonno and Coach Kyle never expected to win the award with all the professional and college performances throughout the year that prep contest was competing against for the recognition. However, in the end, it was the high school football game that stole the hearts and minds of the community in 2012.

Both coaches talked about the award and how the impact of a single high school game can resonate so loudly in Northeast Ohio. Watch the attached video to see what they had to say.

Standout Mentor quarterback Mitch Trubisky was recognized as the event's high school athlete of the year.
