Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Mikh McKinney had a game-high 26 points to
lead the Sacramento State Hornets to a 79-72 win over the Northern Colorado
Bears in Big Sky action at the Nest.
Konner Veteto finished with 14 points, John Dickson chipped in 11 and Joe
Eberhard tallied 10 for Sacramento State (10-8, 5-4 Big Sky) which has won
back-to-back games.
Tevin Svihovec netted 21 points, Derrick Barden had 16 points and was a
rebound shy of a double-double and Tate Unruh and Emmanuel Addo each
contributed 11 points for Northern Colorado (5-13, 3-7) which has lost
consecutive games.
Both teams shot well in the first half. Sacramento State hit an even 50
percent from the field while Northern Colorado turned in a 48.3 percent
effort. The Bears managed to take the 35-32 lead at the half by outscoring the
Hornets from beyond the arc (15-9).
Each team shot an identical 57.7 percent from the field and hit six triples in
the second half. The Hornets were able to pull away for the win with an 11-1
edge in points from the free-throw line.
Northern Colorado lost despite a 30-23 edge in rebounds. Both teams managed
to take double-digit leads in the contest.
