San Luis Obispo, CA (Sports Network) - Chris Eversley poured in 30 points and
ripped down 14 rebounds as the Cal Poly Mustangs earned a 75-64 win over the
Cal State Northridge Matadors in a Big West conference bout at Mott Athletics
Center.
Brian Bennett added 17 points for Cal Poly (9-9, 5-3 Big West) which has won
consecutive contests after a three-game losing streak.
Trevone Williams had 15 points and eight rebounds off the bench, Stephen
Maxwell and Josh Greene each added 14 points and Landon Drew scored 10 points
and came an assist shy of a double-double for Cal State Northridge (10-11,
1-8) which has lost eight of its last nine.
It was the Matadors that led 37-32 at halftime by shooting at a 45.2 percent
clip including a 4-of-8 effort from beyond the arc. Cal Poly fell behind by
shooting just 37.5 percent while missing on all eight attempts from 3-point
range.
In the second half the Mustangs heated up to 53.6 percent shooting while Cal
State Northridge cooled off and hit on just 34.6 percent of its shots in the
final 20 minutes to surrender the contest.
Cal Poly had a 40-28 edge in rebounds and doubled Cal State Northridge's
production from the free-throw line (24-12).
