With the calendar now turned to February, the attention of most high school winter sports athletes, coaches and fans has likely started to shift to what it will take for their respective teams to bring home championship hardware this postseason.

But, in amateur sports, winning truly isn't everything. As Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton was once famously quoted as saying, "A trophy carries dust. Memories last forever."

In that spirit, the staff at USATODAYhss.com/Cleveland has asked its Twitter followers over the course of the past two weeks to reflect upon the memories that have already been made this winter and to share the most poignant of them for use in this story.

High school student-athletes, coaches and fans representing all winter sports sanctioned by the Ohio High School Athletic Association responded. Most tweeted their respective team's high point or most memorable moment while others elected to share the turning point in their season or a bitter defeat that still stings today.

Read the responses that have already been submitted below. Then, connect with USATODAYhss.com/Cleveland through Facebook and/or Twitter to share your most poignant memories from the 2012-13 high school winter sports season thus far in Northeast Ohio. Your social media comments will be added to the story.
