Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Led by 16 points from Will Bogan, the
Valparaiso Crusaders took down the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers, 85-76, in a
Horizon League bout at Gentile Arena.
For the Crusaders (21-7, 11-3 HL), Matt Kenney and Ryan Broekhoff each added
14 points, while Kevin Van Wijk chipped in with 11 points.
Christian Thomas led the Ramblers (14-13, 4-10) with 15 points, while Jordan
Hicks finished with 13 points, while Devon Turk and Jeff White each
contributed 12 points.
Valpo took a 42-27 lead into the break, connecting on 62.1 percent from the
field and 5-of-9 beyond the 3-point line in the first half. The Crusaders held
Loyola to just 35.7 percent shooting and 3-of-10 from the perimeter.
After halftime the Ramblers picked up their shooting and knocked down 57.1
percent of their field goal tries, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. The
Crusaders shot 45.8 percent from the field and 5-of-11 from beyond the 3-point
arc, as they held off the Ramblers in the second half to secure the win and
maintain sole possession of first place in the conference.
The Crusaders outscored the Ramblers 30-18 beyond the arc.
