Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) - Sam Rowley and John Puk each scored 13
points, as the Albany Great Danes earned a 58-50 win over the Fairfield Stags
in a BracketBuster matchup at Webster Bank Arena.
Gary Johnson and Jacob Iati scored nine apiece for the Great Danes (20-9), who
held a 21-10 scoring advantage at the foul line.
Derek Needham had a game-high 15 points for the Stags (17-12), who had won
seven of their previous eight contests entering the day. Keith Matthews added
11 points in the loss.
Both teams shot 40 percent from the floor in the first half, although it was
Albany which grabbed a slim 27-24 lead at intermission.
The Great Danes padded their lead by making 15-of-20 free-throw attempts in
the second stanza. Defensively, they held Fairfield to 8-of-23 shooting from
the floor (.348) over the final 20 minutes to seal the win.
Albany held a 33-25 rebounding advantage for the game, which included a 12-8
edge on the offensive glass.
