Corpus Christi, TX (Sports Network) - Kwame Vaughn scored a game-high 18
points in leading the Cal State Fullerton Titans to a 63-57 victory over the
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders in a BracketBusters matchup at the Dugan
Welness Center.
D.J. Seeley added 16 points and Alex Harris registered 13 for Cal State
Fullerton (14-13) which has won back-to-back contests.
Jelani Currie had 13 points off the bench and Hameed Ali chipped in 11 for
TAMCC (4-21) which has lost three straight.
TAMCC went into halftime clinging to a 29-28 lead by shooting 56.5 percent
from the field. Though Cal State Fullerton shot just 42.1 percent a 9-1 edge
from the free-throw line kept the Titans in range.
Vaughn scored all 18 of his points in the second half as the Titans shot
47.8 percent from the floor to pull out the win. The Islanders recorded just
nine field goals on 37.5 percent shooting in the final period.
The Titans had a 19-9 edge in points from the free-throw line and a 15-8
advantage in points off turnovers.
