Macomb, IL (Sports Network) - Bryn Forbes and Charlie Lee scored 16 points
each to push the Cleveland State Vikings to a 60-54 victory over the Western
Illinois Leathernecks at Western Hall in a matchup that was part of the
BracketBuster event.
Lee also dealt out five assists for the Vikings (14-16), who will conclude
their regular season at Loyola-Chicago on March 2 their next time out.
Adam Link paced WIU (19-7) with 15 points. Terell Parks chimed in with 12
points and eight boards while Ceola Clark produced 10 points, six rebounds and
five assists. The loss was the Leathernecks' second in a row.
WIU led by 11 points early on and connected on 63.2 percent of its shots from
the field in the opening half. CSU knocked down 3-of-6 attempts from beyond
the arc in the first period to narrow the deficit and go into the intermission
trailing, 29-27.
The Leathernecks were limited to 9-of-24 shooting from the field after the
intermission. While the hosts went cold, the Vikings heated up to hit on 55
percent of their field goal tries and added nine additional points at the
free-throw line. CSU led for the final 16:29 of regulation.
Despite the loss, the hosts held a narrow, 25-23 edge in rebounds in the
contest.
