Sarasota, FL (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles agreed to one-year
contracts with 17 players on Friday.
Among those signees were pitchers Pedro Strop, Miguel Gonzalez, Chris Tillman,
Zach Britton and Jake Arrieta as well as infielders Manny Machado and Jonathan
Schoop.
Strop was a key part of the Orioles' dominant bullpen in 2012. He made 70
appearances and racked up 58 strikeouts and finished with a 5-2 record and a
2.44 ERA.
The 28-year-old Gonzalez enjoyed a successful rookie campaign and recorded a
9-4 record with a 3.25 ERA over 18 appearances, including 15 starts.
Machado also enjoyed success upon his first major league call up, as the 20-
year-old Miami-native tallied seven homers along with 26 runs batted in while
hitting for a .262 average over 191 at bats.
Pitchers Zach Clarke, Steve Johnson, Mike Belfiore and T.J McFarland,
infielders Ryan Flaherty, Yamaico Navarro and Danny Valencia, outfielders
Xavier Avery and L.J. Hoes and catcher Luis Exposito also came to terms on
Friday.
