Easton, PA (Sports Network) - Tony Johnson led all scorers with 24 points, and
the second-seeded Lafayette Leopards knocked off the No. 3 seed Lehigh
Mountain Hawks, 82-69, in semifinal-round action of the Patriot League
Tournament.
Seth Hinrichs added 18 points for the Leopards (19-14), who advance to
Wednesday's championship game to face the winner of (1) Bucknell and (4) Army.
Dan Trist and Bryce Scott chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Mackey McKnight led the way with 22 points for the Mountain Hawks (21-9), who
lost for the third time in as many meetings with Lafayette this season. Holden
Greiner was next in line with 16 points, while Gabe Knutson and B.J. Bailey
scored 10 apiece in the loss.
After leading, 35-33 at halftime, the Leopards took control with a 25-11 spurt
to open the second half. They went on to sink 24-of-25 free throws over the
final 20 minutes to seal the win.
