Last week's high school rugby action featured two of the state's top teams playing one another, another top squad going out of state to battle stiff competition and two rivals squaring off on the pitch.

The week's marquee matchup took place when St. Edward traveled to Westerville North to take on the Westerville Worms. St. Ed's won the Division II contest comfortably, 48-0, while the visiting Eagles had to rally to win the Division I tilt, 24-21. Down 21-10 with nine minutes left in the game, seniors Dan Peyton and Kevin Trickle scored back-to-back tries and senior Jack Walsh converted on both extra points. St. Edward's varsity team is now 5-0.

St. Ignatius traveled to Alexandria, Va., to participate in the Jesuit Cup. The Wildcats defeated Fordham Prep (N.Y.) 29-5 and Fairfield Prep (Fairfield, Conn.) 24-0. St. Ignatius lost to Xavier (N.Y.) 26-7. The Xavier contest marked the second time this season the Wildcats have played the top-ranked team in the country. St. Ignatius previously lost to Cathedral (Indianapolis, Ind.), the top-ranked multi-school team in the nation.

Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller got back on the winning track by defeating two teams named St. Xavier. The Fighting Crusaders defeated Cincinnati St. Xavier 20-5 on April 12 and St. Xavier of Louisville, Ky., 18-15 on April 14.

Other Division I boys scores from last week include Hudson's 31-10 win against Strongsville, Indian Springs' 15-14 against Tri-Village and Avon's 83-0 win against Amherst.

Division I girls scores from the last week include Hudson's 50-5 win against Amherst, Lakewood's 25-22 win against St. Joseph Academy and Dayton's 43-5 win against Maysville.
