Area prep coaches, players receive National Football Foundation awards

Two area high school football coaches and more than 25 graduating senior student-athletes were honored during the 25th annual Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation's Scholar-Athlete Awards banquet held in Westlake on Tuesday night.

St. Vincent-St. Mary's Dan Boarman was named the High School Coach of the Year while Nordonia's Scott Barwidi was named the Ron Stoops Assistant Coach of the Year.

Valley Forge student-athlete Jamie Finnerty was named the recipient of this year's Inspiration Award.

The senior football players who were named 2012-13 High School Scholar-Athlete Award winners and were recognized for their academic achievement, athletic accomplishments and community leadership are listed below in alphabetical order by high school.
