WKYC's Dave Chudowsky spent most of the day Monday on the road, interviewing a sample of Northeast Ohio's newest high school spring sports state champions.
His first stop was in North Canton to talk with Hoover's Division I state championship softball team. The Vikings defeated Elyria 7-0 on Saturday to win the program's third-straight title and seventh overall.
Chudowsky then traveled to Akron to talk with members of St. Vincent-St. Mary's boys track and field team. The Fighting Irish squad won the Division II state title.
Continuing his trek north, Chudowsky then visited Solon and talked with members of the school's Division I girls track and field team. The Comets won the program's first-ever state title by tallying 47 points.
The final destination on the championship journey was in Lakewood, where Chudowsky talked with members of St. Edward's Division I boys track and field squad. The Eagles won the program's second-consecutive state championship by recording 62 points.
