ROCKY RIVER -- An arraignment originally scheduled for June 19 for Indians closer Chris Perez and his wife, Melanie, has been canceled.
A pre-trial for the two is now scheduled for July 9 at 8:15 a.m. before Judge Brian Hagan.
Perez and his wife pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor drug charges earlier this week in pleas faxed to the Rocky River Municipal Court.
The two were charged in connection with packages of marijuana sent via mail to their home.
Police say postal inspectors tipped them to the suspicious packages. The packages were determined to be containing around a third pound of marijuana.
They were shipped to the couple's Rocky River rental home in the name of the couple's dog, Brody.
The couple has pleaded not guilty.
