BALTIMORE -- The Cleveland Indians activated RHP Chris Perez from the 15-day Disabled List, and optioned LHP T.J. House to AAA Columbus.
House was with the big league team from June 24-26, his first stint at the Major League level.
Perez last pitched on May 26 in Boston and has been on the 15-day DL since May 27 with a strained right shoulder. He recently made three rehab appearances, June 16-25, at AA Akron, A Lake County and Short-Season A Mahoning Valley.
So far this year, he is 2-1 with 6 saves in 8 attempts and a 4.32 ERA in 17 outings (16.2IP, 15H, 9R/8ER, 10BB, 18K, .231AVG) after posting an ERA of 0.64 over his first 14 games (14.0IP, 10H, 2R/1ER).
Earlier this month, Perez and his wife, Melanie, pleaded not guilty via fax after being charged with misdemeanor drug charges in Rocky River Municipal Court. Their pre-trial is scheduled for July 9 at 8:15 a.m. before Judge Brian Hagan.
The two were charged in connection with packages of marijuana sent via mail to their home. Police say postal inspectors tipped them to the suspicious packages.
The packages were determined to be containing around a third pound of marijuana. They were shipped to the couple's Rocky River rental home in the name of the couple's dog, Brody.
