Glasgow, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - The United States men's national team
was held to a 0-0 draw by Scotland at Hampden Park on Friday.
The U.S. was without a number of key players such as Landon Donovan, Clint
Dempsey and Graham Zusi, which allowed head coach Jurgen Klinsmann to
experiment with his tactics and test fringe players in new positions.
Sacha Kljestan was the primary beneficiary of such absences as his good form
for Anderlecht earned him a start, but the Seton Hall University product
failed to make a lasting impact on the match.
Aron Johansson replaced Kljestan in the 63rd minute and the United States
began to place more pressure on David Marshall in the Scotland net, but the
visitors were unable to take any of their scoring opportunities.
The United States will return to action on Tuesday with a friendly match
against Austria at the Ernst Happel Stadium.
