Student-athlete Shout-out: Copley football's Weston Bridges

Channel 3 Sports is proud to continue its “Student-athlete Shout out” feature series during the 2016-17 school year. Each installment will spotlight the recent accomplishments of a deserving Northeast Ohio high school athlete.

Copley senior running back Weston Bridges

Copley High School senior running back Weston Bridges is the reigning Suburban League American Division MVP.

In the Indians’ league opener at Barberton last week, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Michigan State University verbal commit demonstrated why he is a front-runner to earn the honor again following this season.

Bridges rushed for 182 yards and three scores in the team’s 27-26 win against the Magics.

“Weston has been a team leader, gaining large chunks of yards late in games when it has mattered most,” assistant coach Jim Dies said.

In Copley’s first four contests, Bridges has amassed 586 rushing yards while averaging 6.3 yards per carry. He has recorded 12 rushing touchdowns and another as a receiver.

The Indians (3-1) host Revere (3-1) Friday night.
