Riverside football players Josh Carafa and Nate Sleek
Painesville Riverside High School football players Josh Carafa and Nate Sleek had game-changing performances in the Beavers’ 44-25 Week 4 win against Kenston to open Western Reserve Conference play.
Carafa, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound senior running back and wide receiver, scored five touchdowns in the Friday night win. He caught 10 passes for 246 yards and three scores in addition to tallying 55 rushing yards and scoring two touchdowns.
“Josh is a third-year starter for us and is an electric playmaker,” head coach Dave Bors said. “He has the potential to do something special every time he touches the ball.”
Sleek, the team’s 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior quarterback, completed 20-of-28 passes for 372 yards and three scores in the Week 4 win. He also rushed for 40 yards on five attempts.
“Nathan has stepped into his starting role as quarterback very nicely,” Bors said. “He's a student of the game and is getting better every week. We trust him to get us in the right play and make great decisions.”
