Cleveland Indians infielders Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez win Silver Slugger Awards

CLEVELAND - A pair of Cleveland Indians infielders were honored on Thursday with the 2017 Silver Slugger Award.

Tribe SS Francisco Lindor and 3B Jose Ramirez both received the honor after putting together outstanding seasons at the plate. Lindor and Ramirez were among eight first-time recipients of the award.

Lindor batted .273 with 33 HR and 89 RBI. He is the second Tribe shortstop to win a Silver Slugger, joining Asdrubal Cabrera. Lindor's 33 homers set an MLB record for most ever by a switch-hitting shortstop. He also ranked 3rd in the American League in extra base hits and 4th in doubles.

Ramirez led all of baseball in doubles, tied for first in extra base hits, and was fifth in the MLB in total bases. He finished his breakout season batting .318 with 29 HR and 83 RBI. Ramirez is the third Silver Slugger winner in club history among third basemen, joining Jim Thome and Matt Williams.
