What to expect as the Indians host the Tigers this weekend

CLEVELAND - It's one of the biggest series of the season and Cleveland fans couldn't be more excited.

The Cleveland Indians host the Detroit Tigers in a crucial AL Central series that could mark a make or break moment for the Tribe.

The Indians carry a six-game lead in the AL Central, but face a tough schedule in the remaining regular season with all remaining games against division opponents.

Here are some things to expect from this weekend's homestand:

Arms' race

Cleveland's starting rotation has been a concern as of late. Corey Kluber's been the only reliable option, with a recent shaky start from Carlos Carrasco and one costly inning for Trevor Bauer during his start. Luckily, Josh Tomlin provided a glimpse to his former self in his start Wednesday, earning a win to right his own ship. Michael Clevinger worked himself out of trouble to depart Thursday's game allowing just one run, a good sign despite the walk-off loss to Chicago.

Here are the projected match-ups for the weekend:

Friday: Michael Fulmer (10-6, 2.76) vs. Corey Kluber (16-9, 3.05)

Saturday: Justin Verlander (14-8, 3.33) vs. Carlos Carrasco (11-8, 3.32)

Sunday: Daniel Norris (2-2, 3.81) vs. Trevor Bauer (11-7, 4.06)

Rock your red

The Indians are encouraging fans to wear red this weekend. They also recommend fans buy tickets ASAP, considering the importance of this series. Friday, expect Progressive Field to be packed since its Dollar Dog Night.

History helps

The Indians hope history will repeat itself in the sense that they are 11-1 against the Tigers this season.
