Tuesday night will be one of the most electric evenings in Cleveland sports history.
While the Indians play Game 1 of the World Series at Progressive Field, the Cavaliers will open their defense of the NBA Championship against the New York Knicks at Quicken Loans Arena.
To help accommodate the capacity crowds at both events, the Cavaliers and the NBA have moved up the start time of their game with the Knicks. Tip-off will now be at 7:30 p.m. The Tribe will take the field at 8:00 p.m.
In a special pregame ceremony, the Cavs will raise the NBA Championship banner to the rafters of The Q and commemorate the team’s historic achievement with the presentation of the 2016 Championship rings. The festivities will begin at 7:00 p.m. and fans are encouraged to take their seats by 6:45 p.m. Doors will open at the Q at 5:00 p.m.
All fans in attendance will receive a schedule magnet, championship t-shirt, a light-up bracelet, and a silicone band courtesy of Nike that will allow fans to virtually try on and snap photos as if they were donning the team’s championship ring on their finger. The silicone band uses augmented reality technology in conjunction with the Cavs App to simulate a championship ring visual wearing experience that fans will be able to share via their own social channels.
The “NBA on TNT Road Show” will tip-off from Cleveland with a FREE Concert & Cavs Watch Party taking place across the street from The Q in the Huron (Stark) surface parking lot beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Grammy-nominated rapper and songwriter Wiz Khalifa will perform from the “Road Show” stage prior to the Opening Night game. There will be plenty of interactive fan activities and attractions, plus food trucks and performances from the Cavalier Girls dance team, Scream Team hip-hop troupe, QStix drumline, appearances by Cavs mascot Sir C.C.
In addition, hip-hop recording artist Flo Rida will energize the crowd with a special halftime performance.
