Cleveland Cavaliers' Channing Frye loses mother to cancer

CLEVELAND - Cleveland Cavaliers' power forward Channing Frye has lost his mother to cancer, GM David Griffin announced Thursday.

Frye did not travel with the team to Toronto on Thursday.

Frye's mother, Karen Mulzac-Frye, was a Brooklyn, New York native. She was an Emmy-winning television reporter and executive producer and host on "KFrye & Girlfriends Talk Sports" for Fox Sports Arizona, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

The Cavs have a preseason game against Toronto Friday night.
